Faith-based story of a sickly kid growing up in poverty with an undiagnosed, congenital immune disorder. Throughout his formative years, David always seems to be able to beat the odds and whatever illness is putting him down. He also develops a strong belief in a higher power, his parents, and most of all himself. David finally finds a doctor who identifies the disease he suffers from and is able to treat him. Sadly as he grows older, the treatments stop working and David gets worse. In steps Bailey, a remarkable Shih Tzu who helps David cope with his chronic symptoms. Somehow this amazing animal can sense a crisis episode before it happens and can alert David before it's too late. David has a strong, clear voice, but the style is somewhat choppy. 4 Stars
